THE ISSUE The Radnor Fire Company Ambulance Service budget is supported by three important sources of funding: community contributions through our annual fund drive, insurance reimbursements, and financial support from the municipalities we serve. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Radnor EMS has two full ambulance crews ready to respond to emergencies throughout our community. Like many emergency medical services in our region, we have faced significant challenges due to increased wait times at local hospitals. Extended hospital wait times keep our crews and ambulances out of service longer, increasing operational costs and making it more challenging to maintain the level of emergency coverage our community depends on. Due to the dwindling number of EMS volunteers, we have increased the number of full-time Paramedics and EMTs needed to staff our ambulances. This has greatly increased our everyday operating costs and is necessary to ensure that our community continues to have reliable ambulance coverage around the clock.
