RFC enlisted the Chester County Public Safety Training Academy to instruct members of RFC, along with firefighters from Berwyn, Paoli, and RTPD officers, about safe operations while operating an emergency trailer.

RFC recently received a trailer to transport ATV 15 and the officers wanted to ensure that all firefighters who would transport the ATV had the training to do so safely.

The class consisted of a classroom session where various subjects including loading the trailer correctly, proper hook up of the trailer to the tow vehicle, trailer inspection and other safety concerns.

The practical portion of the class included testing all students on various skills; pre-trip inspection of the trailer and tow vehicle, driving forward and backing out of a straight chute, backing into a simulated loading dock from both the right and left sides, a serpentine course and an off set alley.
