At 9 PM on Thanksgiving night, Radnor Fire Company, along with an Engine from Berwyn Fire Company , were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 200 block of Walnut Avenue. The caller was from Poplar Avenue and reported seeing fire and smoke coming from the back of the house but was unsure of the exact address. Chief 15 arrived and reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the house and requested a working fire dispatch. Quint 15 arrived and stretched an attack line to the Bravo side of the building and advanced to the second floor. Engine 15 arrived shortly after, dropping a 5” supply line to the Quint. Another 1 3/4" line was stretched to the rear of the building and crews began to knock down the fire on the exterior. As assisting fire companies arrived, their personnel were placed in service to assist in extinguishment and overhaul. All companies cleared the scene by 11:30 PM and RFC crews returned to the station for another hour of cleaning the equipment and getting the apparatus back in service. Three firefighters received minor injuries. There were no citizen injuries. Thanks to the Malvern Fire Company and Oakmont Fire Company for standing by at Radnor during the fire. |
