This morning at 10:16, RFC and Broomall Fire Company were dispatched to the area of mile marker 9.8 southbound for a vehicle fire, reported to be a tractor trailer.
RFC crews arrived on location with fire coming from the tractor’s tires and smoke from the trailer. The driver had already disconnected the trailer and moved the tractor a few feet away.
Manoa Fire Company was requested for an engine to the scene.
The crew from the Squad stretched an 1 3/4” line to the tractor and knocked down the visible fire.
The line was then re-positioned to the rear of the trailer and began to flow water into the trailer.
Broomall arrived and supplied their tank water to the Squad.
Manoa arrived and assisted crews with extinguishment.
Both sides of the trailer were opened (the passenger side was already partially open from the fire) using the K-Saw.
Once the trailer was opened, foam was flowed through the line to wet down the cargo in the trailer.
All companies cleared the Blue Route in an hour.
