At 09:28 hours local box 02-89 was struck for the Strafford Station Apartments located in Tredyffrin Township Chester County. The initial dispatch brought Station 2 (Berwyn), Station 3 (Paoli) and Radnor for a ladder and engine. Units arrived to find a 3 story garden style apartment complex with fire and smoke showing. The fire quickly spread to the top floor and roof area causing the roof to collapse. Numerous crews from the Tri-County area responded and fought the fire in the frigid temperatures. It was 19 degrees at the time of dispatch. Numerous ground ladders, ladder trucks and handlines were placed in service.
